ADAMANTINE-Article - Internet Marketing vs Golf - Volume 2
(Written by Iain Higgins, Golf and IM Pro)

In my last article I highlighted the similarities between coaching Internet Marketing
and coaching golf.

The former is what I do now having done the latter for a major part of my life
(and still do a few days a month now). I will now break the process down for step
by step building of an Internet Marketing business.

When people come to me for a golf lesson, I firstly clear all the rubbish out of their
head regarding hitting it 40 yards longer and shooting sub par rounds by next week
and get down to the faults they have. On analysis it is soon apparent that
"they hit the ball off line".

Forget distance, putting and other aspects for the minute,
they cannot hit the ball straight consistently, which if you are trying to play golf
happens to be a major fundamental.

I watch them hit a few shots and to a man 99.9% of the time the pupil I am teaching
cannot line up to the target.

His AIM is all over the place. So I line him up in the right direction get him
pointing at a target and bingo, instant improvement. What was the first flaw,
not necessarily bad AIM, the fact he did not have a target in mind to AIM at.
No target how can he AIM. "Where you trying to hit that Joe"

" Oh Just out on the range, Iain"

"Joe the range is 250 yards wide"

" Yeah well just out there somewhere"

In Internet Marketing exactly the same is true. I get people come to me, so called
"newbies" and I hate that Internet Marketing term.

"I want to work from home", "I want to earn $10,000 a month selling stuff online."

Or

"I have built three websites and not made a dime"

"I have joined 102 affiliate programmes and it does not work for me"

So I cut through all the rubbish and sales guru hype and set the same question.
What are you AIMING at?

When you built those three websites, what was your AIM?

When you joined that affiliate program, what was your AIM?

Like the golfer wants to hold a club and read a magazine and make it happen,
the Internet marketer wants to read the next sales page or guru e book and earn a fortune.

Once I get the aim of that Internet marketer, I can point him in the right direction
just like the golfer and he will hit his shots straighter, or in Internet Marketing terms,
monetise his products.

Internet marketing is a broad term, and covers many aspects. A lot of great internet
sites earn no money and a lot of poor internet marketing sites earn loads of money.

Why? The good internet marketers took AIM. They didnt just jump on the hype and
AIM themselves at all 250 yards of the range. They AIMED where they intended to go
and then could build the rest of the set up around it.

The best ideas in the world need a sound set up in Internet Marketing, just like the
best thought of shots need a sound set up in golf.

Making money online, is great, it is fun, but it is also hard work. To be successful
before diving into the next product. Step back and take aim. Where am I really
going to go with this. You will soon see a clearer path

Who says business and golf are not related!!

Iain's Resource Box

Iain Higgins, is an active member of the Professional Golfers Association who still
teaches golf today. His golf coaching was limited by injury so he then applied his
techniques of golf coaching to IM.

Having made $500,000 in two years he turned to training others in Internet Marketing.
In 2005 he took 12 students through his Immentor programme and 10 now earn
5 figure monthly incomes. His passion for coaching and will for his students to
succeed is second to none.

When I received the information from John Delavera relating to
The 888 Code, I sat down and did my own analysis of the content.

I have taken most of the questions in the code and commented on
them.

Some of the questions and answers are self-explanatory
and need no further comment.  I have listed each question
highlited and my comments relating to the questions of The 888

I hope that this will share a little insight from my

ADAMANTINE-Self Improvement - Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees.

Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life.
Similar to a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination,
vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin:  Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now.

Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, “Hi, I’m Jean and
I am a 17-year old, senior highschool student.”

It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation.
To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values,
and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status.

Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on
your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses.

Upon introspection, Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous,
service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field.
Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were
destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

“Who do want to be?” this is your vision. Now it is important that you know
yourself so that you would have a clearer idea of who you want to be; and the
things you want to change whether they are attitudes, habits, or points of view.

If you hardly know yourself, then your vision and targets for the future would
also be unclear. Your destination should cover all the aspects of your being:
the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.

Continuing Jean’s story, after she defined her beliefs, values, and principles
in life, she decided that she wanted to have a life dedicated in serving her
fellowmen.

Vehicle: Your Mission

A vehicle is the means by which you can reach your destination. It can be analogized
to your mission or vocation in life.

To a great extent, your mission would depend on what you know about yourself.

Based on Jean’s self-assessment, she decided that she was suited to become a doctor,
and that she wanted to become one. Her chosen vocation was a medical doctor.
Describing her vision-mission fully: it was to live a life dedicated to serving her
fellowmen as a doctor in conflict-areas.

Travel Bag: Your knowledge, skills, and attitude

Food, drinks, medicines, and other travelling necessities are contained in a bag.

Applying this concept to your life map, you also bring with you certain knowledge,
skills, and attitudes. These determine your competence and help you in attaining
your vision.

Given such, there is a need for you to assess what knowledge, skills,
and attitudes you have at present and what you need to gain along the way.

This two-fold assessment will give you insights on your landmarks or measures
of success. Jean realized that she needed to gain professional knowledge and
skills on medicine so that she could become a doctor. She knew that she was a
bit impatient with people so she realized that this was something she wanted to change.

Landmarks and Route: S.M.A.R.T. objectives

Landmarks confirm if you are on the right track while the route determines the travel
time. Thus, in planning out your life, you also need to have landmarks and a route.

These landmarks are your measures of success. These measures must be specific,
measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Thus you cannot set two major
landmarks such as earning a master’s degree and a doctorate degree within a period
of three years, since the minimum number of years to complete a master’s degree is
two years.

Going back to Jean as an example, she identified the following landmarks in her life
map: completing a bachelor’s degree in biology by the age of 21; completing
medicine by the age of 27; earning her specialization in infectious diseases by the age
of 30; getting deployed in local public hospitals of their town by the age of 32; and
serving as doctor in war-torn areas by the age of 35.

Anticipate Turns, Detours, and Potholes

The purpose of your life map is to minimize hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions
that can make you lose your way. But oftentimes our plans are modified along the way
due to some inconveniences, delays, and other situations beyond our control.

Like in any path, there are turns, detours, and potholes thus; we must anticipate them and
adjust accordingly.

Be S.M.A.R.T - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time bound.
